Campion College Renovation

Th U of R's Campion College building was originally constructed in 1966. To meet current accessibility requirements, JCK was tasked with providing a solution. As a new elevator required a concrete shaft, the design solution which was selected was to convert an existing concrete stair shaft into the support for the elevator, and to construct a new glass stair shaft and entrance vestibule at the front of the building. This solution helped to both provide an accessible building for students, staff, and the general public, and to reuse an existing structural element and therefore reduce the project’s environmental impact.
